How to use the retreat finder
Start broad and narrow down. Every filter is optional, and the list updates as you change them.
- Month: shows retreats with a published date that runs in that month. A retreat from 31 October to 6 November counts for both months. Retreats with flexible or recurring dates stay in the list, marked “ask the organiser”, because they may run when you want.
- Island or region: Siargao, El Nido, Metro Manila and any other place with a listed retreat.
- Length: 2 to 4 days, 5 to 6 days, or 7 days or more. Length comes from the published dates (start to end, counting both days) or, for flexible retreats, from the organiser’s own description such as “3-night / 4-day”.
- Published price: bands in the currency the organiser uses, by the lowest price they publish. “Price on request” shows the retreats with no readable price.
- Style or focus: surf, meditation, yin, restorative, pranayama and other words that appear in the organiser’s own description of the retreat.
The address bar updates as you filter, so you can bookmark a search or send it to a friend.
What each result shows
Each card gives the retreat name (linked to its profile on this site), the organiser, the location and the format as the organiser describes it. Below that you get:
- Upcoming dates, soonest first. Dates that have passed drop off when the site rebuilds.
- Published price, quoted as the organiser wrote it, with “from” the lowest figure for quick comparison, a link to the page it came from and the month we checked it.
- Getting there from Manila, from a short table we keep by hand: the usual arrival airport and route. For Siargao that means flying from Manila to Sayak Airport (IAO), or connecting through Cebu. For Siquijor it means flying to Dumaguete and taking the ferry.
- Style tags, taken from the organiser’s own words.
How the finder works and what data it uses
Retreat records come from the same data as the yoga retreats in the Philippines list. Each one was checked against the organiser’s website or booking page, and the month of that check is shown with the price. Dates come from the organisers’ own pages, the same ones on upcoming retreat dates.
Prices are read, not estimated. The finder pulls the amounts out of the organiser’s text, ignores early-bird rates the organiser marks as passed, and never converts between currencies. If it cannot read a price, it says so.
The travel table holds no fares and no travel times, only routes and airport names, because those change least. Weather matters as much as flights: retreats between June and November fall in the months when typhoons are most likely, so read the cancellation policy and consider travel insurance.
Before you book
Compare what each price covers, not just the headline figure. Shared and private rooms are often priced differently, and some prices include meals, transfers or surf lessons while others do not. Tell the organiser about any injury or health condition before you pay a deposit, because a retreat often means more daily practice than a city class.
Visiting more than one island? The yoga trip planner puts retreats, events and drop-in studios for your dates in one printable plan. Thinking of teaching? Compare programmes with the teacher training comparer.
Questions
Why are most retreats in the finder in Siargao?
Because that is where most organisers publish specific future dates. The finder only lists retreats with a public organiser or booking page, and Siargao has the most of those right now. El Nido and Metro Manila retreats with flexible dates are included too.
Can I filter retreats by price in pesos?
Only where the organiser quotes pesos. We never convert currencies, because exchange rates move and organisers set their own peso rates. Most Philippine retreats quote US dollars per person, so the price bands are in the currency each organiser uses.
What does price on request mean in the retreat finder?
The organiser has not published a price we could read, or publishes it only after an enquiry. Message them through the link on the retreat page and ask what the price covers: room, meals, transfers and any surf or excursion add-ons.
Does the finder show flight prices or travel times to retreats?
No. It names the usual arrival airport and route from Manila, such as flying to Sayak Airport for Siargao, because those rarely change. Fares, schedules and travel times change often, so check them with the airline or ferry operator.
