Yoga pose of the day
The yoga pose of the day shows one pose from the YogaPhilippines.com pose library each day, with its English and Sanskrit names and a short note on what it is. Tap the button for full step-by-step instructions, or print the card and keep it by your mat. A new pose appears every day.
Today's pose
Chair Pose
Utkatasana
Utkata can be read as powerful, fierce or uneven, and asana means posture. In English it is Chair Pose, because you sit back as if lowering onto a seat that is not there.
How does the pose of the day work?
Each day the tool shows one pose from the yoga pose library, working through the collection in a set order based on today’s date. You will see the English name, the Sanskrit name in italics and a short line on what the pose is or what its name means. The button below takes you to the full pose page, with numbered steps, the breath, how long to hold, modifications and common mistakes.
Press print card to print just the pose, without the site menus, footer or teacher cards. It fits on one page, so you can keep a small stack of cards by your mat or tape one to the fridge.
How can you use it in your practice?
A daily pose is a gentle way to widen what you know without planning a whole class. A few ideas:
- Learn it: read the steps and try the pose once, slowly, with the easiest modification.
- Add it: slot it into your usual practice, warmed up and on both sides where it applies.
- Build around it: plan a short practice that leads up to the day’s pose.
Ready-made yoga sequences show how poses link together, and to see where a pose fits among the others, scan the yoga poses chart by shape.
What are the limits?
The pose of the day does not know your level or health. Some days it will land on an advanced shape, an inversion or a deep backbend that is not right for you. If you are new, stay with the shapes in the guide to yoga poses for beginners and keep harder poses as something to read about for now.
Never force a pose. Stop if you feel sharp pain, and see a doctor or physio if it persists. If you are pregnant, injured or have high blood pressure, check each pose page’s notes and ask your doctor before trying inversions or deep twists.
Questions
How is the yoga pose of the day chosen?
The tool works through the pose library in order, moving on one pose each calendar day based on your device's date. It is not random, so everyone sees the same pose on the same day, and the cycle repeats once every pose has had its turn.
What if the pose of the day feels too hard?
Open the pose page and use one of the listed modifications, or skip it for the day. Not every pose suits every body or every day. Tomorrow brings a different one, and the beginner list is always there as a fallback.
Can you print the yoga pose of the day?
Yes. Press print card and the page prints only the pose name, Sanskrit name and short description, without menus or other content. Choose save as PDF in the print dialog to keep a digital copy.
